Kumbia Connections: Restore, Renew & Revive 2024/2025/2026
The Kumbia Hall Committee as custodians of the Kumbia Hall Precinct have developed a program of works to Restore, Renew and Revive the hall precinct to preserve and revive the Arts, Culture and Heritage Precinct in Kumbia for the community, local businesses and visitors to continue to enjoy and use for the next 100 years and beyond. The Hall Committee are responsible for the Hall and Former Kindergarten Buildings. The Federation Centre housing the history of the district is also onsite under the care of the Kumbia Historical Society. The Hall Committee and Historical Society work together to sustain the Hall Precinct for the citizens of Kumbia & District.
The Hall Committee have 2 main projects. Project 1 The Hall Upgrades, Project 2: Repurposing of the former Kingergarten Buildings.
2024-2025 Stage 1: Restumping of the Kumbia & District Memorial School of Arts Hall
A Buy A Stump Appeal was launched in July 2024 to raise an initial $50,000 to commence the restumping project. A total expected cost of approx. $200,000. was a daunting prospect for our small community.
A series of fundraising events, grant applications, private donations and the appeal enabled the Hall Committee to reach this very important goal.

In 2025 the Kumbia Hall Committee became the lead organization in prartnership with FRRR & the Red Earth Foundation to deliver the Disaster Resilient: Future Ready (Qld) Program.
Community Engagement meetings from December 2023 to 2025 to work through the program framework as provided by the Red Earth Foundation. Prepare, People, Place & Possibilities followed by phase 2 meetings which discussed Organise for Impact. The process enabled the Kumbia community to create a shared vision for resilience and identified & prioritised community-led initiatives.
The Kumbia Project 1. Kumbia Hall Prepare & Connect - Purpose; Activating the Kumbia Memorial Hall as an accessible Community Meeting Place that supports resilience building and disaster preparedness now and into the future, through hall upgrades, a schedule of events, training, resources and information sharing.
The Kumbia Project 2. Increasing Digital Capabiity of Kumbia Hall and Raising Awareness of Mental Health and Reovery Networks. Purpose; upgrading digital and IT equipment to activate the Kumbia Hall as a Community Meeting Place and information hub, supporting Kumbia to be better prepared and resilient in the face of natural disasters.
